Sandy Price is senior vice president of human resources for Sprint Nextel, a position she has held since May 2006. She is responsible for all initiatives relating to human resources, such as compensation and benefits, staffing and employee relations, training and development, talent management and the office of diversity and inclusion.
Ms. Price also manages flight operations.
Immediately prior to this appointment, Ms. Price served as senior vice president for the human resources, communications and brand management organization of Sprint Nextel's Local Telephone Division (LTD), a position with responsibility for all aspects of the employee experience (including internal communications, human resources, diversity and inclusion, learning and development, real estate, security, and process excellence) as well as external communications and brand management functions such as public and media relations, community relations, and sponsorships. Ms. Price was a member of the senior management team that prepared the LTD for the spin-off of the company that is now known as EMBARQ.
Ms. Price joined Sprint in 1993 as manager of career development and has since served as director of executive development and vice president of human resources development, a position in which she led the Sprint University of Excellence. Under Sandy's leadership in 2003, Sprint placed third on the "Training Top 100 list," a ranking of organizations that excel at human resources development. From 2004 to 2005, Ms. Price led the human resources function for Sprint's local telecommunications division, which led to her role as senior vice president of this organization following Sprint's merger with Nextel in August 2005.
Before coming to Sprint, Ms. Price was a principal in the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, Kan., and the Jenks Public Schools District in Tulsa, Okla. Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts degree in special education and a Master of Arts degree in learning disabilities and school administration. Ms. Price completed doctoral coursework in policy and administration at the University of Kansas.
Ms. Price plays an active role as a professional and personal mentor both at Sprint and in the community. Effective July 1, 2009 she is serving as president of the Johnson County Community College Foundation Executive Board and served as the executive sponsor for the 2007 Sprint United Way Campaign. She formerly served on the boards of the University of Southern California Center for Telecommunications Management, the Kansas City Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Volunteer Center of Johnson County.
